Jillian L. Byrd, DMD, MS
In Connecticut she was part of a Cold Case Homicide Team and assistant to Chief Forensic Odontologist for the State of Connecticut. Following graduate school Dr. Jillian went to dental school at MUSC graduating in 2013. Upon completion of dental school Dr. Jillian practiced general dentistry in the Low Country for a year before her year-long Fellowship in Pediatric Dentistry with The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
In Ohio, she worked in rural pediatric dental clinics providing care to the underserved children in central Ohio. Dr. Jillian also worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital providing both comprehensive dental care to clinic patients and emergency dental care to trauma patients.
Dr. Jillian also served as adjunct dental faculty with The OSU College of Dentistry working with senior dental students to provide pediatric dental care through The Ohio Project. After moving back down to South Carolina, Dr. Jillian works as a general dentist providing comprehensive dental care to children in the Low Country.
Dr. Jillian is a current member of: American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Oral Medicine, American Dental Association, American Society of Forensic Odontology, South Carolina Dental Association, and Southeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry..
Lynnette A. Cushing, DMD
Dr. Lynnette attended the University of New Hampshire and studied for a degree in Pre-Med and Communication/Rhetoric. From there she directly went on to enroll at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, where she graduated in 2014.
Dr. Lynnette completed her clinical rotation at Lynn Community Health Center, where she worked twelve hours per day serving patients with preventive and restorative dentistry. At Tufts University, Dr. Lynnette actively participated in the pediatric undergrad clinic and gained extensive experience before relocating to Charleston and beginning her life as a southerner.
At Sunnyside Dental, Dr. Lynnette continues with her love of teeth. She provides comprehensive care to all of her patients in a friendly and professional environment. She particularly enjoys the challenge of easing anxiety in her younger patients and believes that everyone deserves a positive (and fun!) dental experience.
Dr. Lynnette attended the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation course in Seattle in the fall of 2015 to receive training in single-dose oral sedation, which she will begin utilizing at the start of 2016. This new program will provide an option for a quick and easy no-memory experience for patients who are particularly nervous for their visit. She is also proficient in the administration and monitoring of nitrous oxide, which the office is fully equipped to provide.
Dr. Lynnette takes every opportunity to enjoy the sunny weather of South Carolina. She loves to take her puppy to the beach and other great events around the Lowcountry. She enjoys watching sports on TV and never misses a New England Patriots game!
Dr. Lynnette is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Massachusetts Dental Society.
